Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has attributed Team Nigeria's failure to win medals at the 2024 Olympics in France to his short tenure in office. Speaking on Arise TV's Morning Show, Enoh noted that his predecessor, Sunday Dare, had a two-year preparation period before the 2020 Olympics, which resulted in two medals for Team Nigeria. In contrast, Enoh had only one year to prepare the athletes for the 2024 Olympics, a timeframe he deemed insufficient for achieving podium success. Enoh cited the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on the Olympic schedule, which pushed the 2020 Games to 2021, as a factor in the disparity between his and Dare's preparation periods. He expressed disappointment in Team Nigeria's performance at the 2024 Olympics, highlighting the need for adequate preparation time to achieve success in international competitions.
