AFCON 2025: Nigeria Drawn in Group C with Tunisia, Uganda, Tanzania

  The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in Group C for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.  The tournament is set to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. This group promises an intense contest, especially as Nigeria seeks redemption against Tunisia, a team that knocked them out of the 2022 AFCON Round of 16.  The Super Eagles, who were runners-up in the last edition held in Côte d’Ivoire, aim to secure their fourth AFCON title. CAF Unveils Official Emblem for TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025

  The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the official emblem for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, marking a major milestone ahead of Africa's premier football event.  The emblem, which celebrates African heritage and unity, reflects the spirit of togetherness that the tournament aims to inspire.  The unveiling sets the stage for an exciting countdown to the event, which kicks off on December 21, 2025, and runs until January 18, 2026. This will be the second time Morocco hosts AFCON, having last done so in 1988.  The country is preparing world-class facilities, including iconic stadiums such as Casablanca's Mohammed V Stadium and the Ibn Batouta Stadium in Tangier.  Extensive infrastructure development is underway, including transportation networks and accommodations, ensuring fans have seamless access and a memorable experience. EGUAVOEN QUITS INTERIM CAPACITY

  Augustine Eguavoen, the interim coach of the Super Eagles, has announced his departure from the role following the team's match against Rwanda in Kigali on Tuesday.  In an interview with OwnGoalNigeria at the Kigali Airport, Eguavoen revealed that his mandate was to oversee the team's matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which has now come to an end. Eguavoen expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance and thanked the NFF leadership and players for their support.  He stated, "I'm pleased with the boys' discipline and hard work. My task ends today, as I was only mandated to handle these two games." Ekiti FA Boss Oloworemo Joins NFF Bigwigs in Kigali to Cheer on Super Eagles

Ekiti State Football Association Chairman, Aare Oluwole Oloworemo, has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, to support the Super Eagles in their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier match against Rwanda. Oloworemo joined NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, and other board members at the Amahoro National Stadium, where the match is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 5 PM. The Ekiti FA boss urged the Super Eagles to build on their impressive 3-0 win over the Republic of Benin last Saturday, which saw goals from Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen. With Oloworemo's presence, the Super Eagles are poised to receive strong support from Nigerian football stakeholders as they take on Rwanda in a crucial qualifier match.

Super Eagles Squad Announced for Upcoming Matches

  Nigerian national team coach, Bruno Labbadia, has released a 23-man squad list for the upcoming matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.  The list includes: Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, William Ekong, Ola Aina, Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi and other players. The Super Eagles will face Benin Republic's Cheetahs at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, September 7th, before traveling to Kigali to take on Rwanda's Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, September 10th.
