The Ekiti State contingent has returned home from the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, with a total of 9 medals - 6 silver and 3 bronze.  Although the team did not win any gold medals, they still made the state proud with their impressive performance. Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Dr Olusola Osetoba expressed that the team's performance fell short of her expectations, considering the high hopes they had going into the games.  However, she is optimistic about the future, citing the state government's efforts to reposition sports in Ekiti.  With the construction of a new indoor sports hall, renovation of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, and procurement of new equipment, the sector is expected to witness significant development. Ekiti State's representatives at the recently concluded National Youth Games Zonal Elimination in Osogbo, Osun State, have returned home with impressive results. In her reaction, Osetoba expressed joy and pride in the team's achievements, promising more rewards for the athletes and coaches. She urged the team to remain focused on their ultimate goal of winning gold at the National Youth Games, explaining that they must pay the governor's efforts with medals when the main games commence.
