Court nullifies Ekit PDP Primary, where to now?

Ekiti 2026: Court Nullifies PDP Governorship Primary, Orders Fresh Exercise A Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship primary election ahead of the 2026 polls and directed the party to conduct a fresh exercise. Report from Vanguard newspaper claimed that Justice Babs Kuewumi upheld allegations of irregularities by aspirant Prince Funso Ayeni, who challenged the primary over manipulation of the approved delegate list, arguing that it undermined transparency, internal democracy, and fairness. The court held that the process violated both the PDP’s constitution and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, describing the primary as a gross abuse of procedure and a clear disregard for established electoral guidelines. Drastic Measures: Wike Vows to "Put Fire" in States of PDP Governors Backing Fubara

In a fiery outburst, Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, threatened to wreak havoc in the states of PDP governors supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara, warning them to back off from attempts to take control of the party structure. At the Rivers State PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, Wike declared: "Not while we live will anybody take the PDP structure from us... I will put fire in their states." This threat comes amid a deepening rift between Wike and his successor, Fubara, which has split the Rivers State legislative arm into factions and resisted mediation efforts.  Wike's anger appears to be fueled by the consistent support of PDP governors for Fubara.

Gender Imbalance in Ekiti PDP Caretaker Committee, SADE Alleges

A former chairman of Gbonyin Local Government Area in Ekiti State, Mrs Folasade Akinrinmola, has expressed disappointment over the composition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caretaker committee in the state.  The committee, which was recently announced by the PDP National Working Committee, consists of 19 members, with only two women represented. Akinrinmola, a chieftain of the PDP in Ekiti State, alleged that the party's national leadership failed to conduct proper research before selecting the committee members, resulting in a significant gender imbalance.  She questioned the decision to include only two women in the committee, particularly when women have been loyal supporters of the party. Akinrinmola urged the PDP national leadership to withdraw the list and make necessary amendments to ensure fair representation of women in the party.  She warned that the lack of representation could discourage women from participating in the party and lead to them quitting. ...
