A Coroner's Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has authorized substituted service on key witnesses in the ongoing inquest into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad. The witnesses include:
- Azeez Fashola (aka Naira Marley)
- Samson Eletu (aka Sam Larry)
- Karimot Ogunbayo (Mohbad's sister-in-law)
- Boluwatife Adeyemo (aka Darosha)
- Oluwasanmi Falade (Mohbad's lawyer)
- Feyisayo Ogedengbe (the nurse who treated Mohbad)
- Fidelis Esanbor (the driver who drove Mohbad to the hospital)
Magistrate T. A. Sotobi granted the application by Mohbad's father, Joseph Aloba, to serve witness summonses on additional witnesses through a reputable national newspaper and social media.
The Aloba family's legal team stated that the order was granted during the court's sitting on August 16.
The legal team sought an order to issue Witness Summons on interested persons as witnesses to provide evidence on the circumstances surrounding Mohbad's death.
The court agreed that the new witnesses should be served via substituted means to ensure prompt attendance.
The legal team stated that previous efforts to serve witness summonses on these witnesses through the court had been unsuccessful.
Additionally, the coroner's court granted the application to recall Mohbad's wife, Wunmi, and the IPO in charge of the case, ASP Muhammad Yusuf.
