The Ekiti State government has announced that the August edition of its monthly environmental sanitation exercise will take place on Saturday, August 31, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
During this period, vehicular movement will be restricted, except for essential workers. Additionally, all markets and commercial establishments will be closed.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, urged residents to actively participate in the exercise, emphasizing its importance for public health and safety.
The theme of this month's exercise is "Clean Communities, Healthy Lives."
To ensure a successful exercise, environmental health and sanitation officers will be deployed to monitor the situation, and a mobile court will be in place to prosecute offenders.
In preparation for the exercise, market women are encouraged to clean their shops and stalls during the weekly Thursday market sanitation exercise, while government employees are expected to clean their office spaces before the close of work on Friday."
