In a disturbing revelation, Yoruba culture has been rated as one of the lowest among all cultures, sparking concerns about the lack of seriousness with which Yoruba people treat their heritage.
This was the submission of Abiodun Adeyanju, guest speaker at the Yoruba Broadcasters Association (YBA) Ekiti State Chapter event held today in Ado Ekiti.
Adeyanju lamented that Yoruba people take their culture with levity, urging parents to instill Yoruba values in their children to ensure the sustainability of the Yoruba race.
The event, themed "Igbelaruge Asa Ile Yoruba, Ekiti 2024," aimed to promote Yoruba culture and traditions.
National President of YBA, Aare Michael Olusayo Bakare, thanked attendees and emphasized the importance of upholding Yoruba culture.
The event featured presentations of ewi (Yoruba poetry), ancient sporting activities, and awards.
Dignitaries from various broadcasting stations in Ekiti State attended the event, including representatives from Voice FM, Our Peoples FM, and Midas FM.
Experts however warned that if urgent action is not taken, Yoruba culture risks being lost forever, while they also emphasized the need for collective effort to preserve and promote Yoruba heritage.
