The Ekiti State contingent has returned home from the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, with a total of 9 medals - 6 silver and 3 bronze.
Although the team did not win any gold medals, they still made the state proud with their impressive performance.
Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Dr Olusola Osetoba expressed that the team's performance fell short of her expectations, considering the high hopes they had going into the games.
However, she is optimistic about the future, citing the state government's efforts to reposition sports in Ekiti.
With the construction of a new indoor sports hall, renovation of the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, and procurement of new equipment, the sector is expected to witness significant development.

- Weightlifting: Damilare Oguntoye (silver)
- 4x400m Mixed Relay: Olajesu Ogundare, Abdulwahab Salawudeen, Boluwatife Fayose, Comfort Aribisala (silver)
- Aerobics Gymnastics: Babatola Opetosimi (bronze)
- Scrabble: Oluwaferanmi Dada (bronze), Adegunte Peace, Oke Israel, Ajayi Emmanuel (bronze)
- Tennis: Seyi Ogunsakin (silver), Goodnews Aina (silver), Seyi Ogunsakin and Gloria Samuel (silver)
- Male Volleyball: (silver)
The team's achievements are a testament to Governor Biodun Oyebanji's commitment to sports development in Ekiti State.
Since taking office, he has provided financial and moral motivation to the young athletes, inspiring them to excel in sports.
