Ekiti State Government Reassures Athletes Welfare, Gears Up for New NWFL Season

Ekiti state government has reiterated it's support for all athletes in the state, promising that all necessary modalities will be put in place to ensure their welfare and optimal performance.

This was made known by Dr Mrs Olusola Osetoba the technical advisor on sports to Governor Biodun Oyebanji in a telephone interview when she also disclosed that preparations are in full swing for the upcoming Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.

Speaking on behalf of the Ekiti State Government, Dr. Osetoba assured stakeholders that the state-owned female football team, Ekiti Queens FC, is ready to make a strong impression in the new season.

Unlike their male counterparts, Ekiti United FC and the feeder teams, who are currently on festive holidays, Ekiti Queens FC remain in camp.

This reflects the state government's commitment to ensuring the team is adequately prepared to represent Ekiti State brilliantly in the highly competitive league.

She however encouraged the Queens to stay focused and maintain discipline as the year draws to a close, urging them to avoid distractions that could derail their preparation.

Dr. Osetoba also revealed plans to allow the players to celebrate the yuletide season with their families, even if for a short period.

"We understand the importance of family during the festive period. I will meet with the team management to finalize arrangements that will balance their holiday celebrations with ongoing preparations for the new season," she added.

Ekiti Queens FC’s continued training amid the holiday period underscores the state government’s commitment to sports development and excellence.

Fans and stakeholders eagerly await the team’s performance as they prepare to showcase their talent and determination in the upcoming league.
