Ekiti State Government Renovates Weightlifting Gym at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium

The Ekiti State Government, under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, has completed the renovation of the weightlifting gym at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti.

The facility, which had been neglected for years, now boasts a refreshed and modernized appearance, signaling a new dawn for sports development in the state.

Speaking with newsmen earlier today, Dr. Mrs. Olusola Osetoba, the Technical Advisor on Sports Development to the Governor, described the renovation as a pivotal part of Governor Oyebanji's strategic efforts to rejuvenate the sports sector.

“This gesture is one of many developmental strategies initiated by His Excellency to reposition sports in Ekiti State. Beyond the renovation of the weightlifting gym, the government is also undertaking major projects, such as the construction of an indoor sports complex. These efforts are complemented by minor projects like this, which have significant impact on grassroots sports development,” Dr. Osetoba stated.

Sports enthusiasts across the state have expressed their excitement over the development, describing it as a much-needed boost for sports infrastructure.

They commended the government for breathing new life into the facility, noting that it will serve as a training hub for athletes and contribute to talent development in Ekiti State.

The renovated weightlifting gym is part of a broader initiative by the Oyebanji administration to harness the power of sports for youth engagement, talent discovery, and economic growth in Ekiti State.
