Osun State Government Reaffirms Commitment to Public Health, Promotes Safe Sexual Practices on Valentine’s Day
The Osun State Government has reiterated its commitment to public health by encouraging residents to adopt safe sexual practices, particularly during Valentine’s Day celebrations.
In a proactive move to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS, the government, through the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA), will distribute free condoms and lubricants at selected malls and lounges across the state.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote awareness and prevention.
According to a statement signed by O-SACA's Executive Secretary, Olusegun Daramola, the Valentine’s Day season provides an opportunity to reinforce messages of responsible sexual behavior and HIV/AIDS prevention.
“HIV/AIDS remains a significant public health concern, and it is crucial for our people to take preventive measures, such as avoiding unprotected sex. We also encourage individuals to get tested and know their HIV status,” the statement emphasized.
The government of Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke remains committed to reducing HIV prevalence in Osun State and achieving the global goal of ending AIDS by 2030.
“To support safe practices, we are making condoms and lubricants freely available at designated locations. We urge residents to take advantage of these resources and prioritize their health. Let’s celebrate love responsibly and work together to ensure a healthier Osun State,” the statement concluded.
This initiative aligns with the state government’s broader health agenda, reinforcing its dedication to the well-being of residents through proactive interventions and public awareness campaigns.
