Bayo-lanlege Kehinde, CEO of Phoenix Athletics Sports Limited, has commended the Technical Advisor on Sports Development to the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Olusola Osetoba, for the meaningful progress being made in sports development across the state.

In a recent statement, Olanlege highlighted the significant strides taken under Osetoba’s leadership and praised the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) for its commitment to advancing sports infrastructure and inclusivity.

Olanlege noted that the state has adopted an all-inclusive approach to sports management, extending equal attention to various sports associations beyond just football.

He credited the Technical Advisor with successfully engaging prominent Ekiti politicians to lead these associations, ensuring they receive the recognition and support they deserve.

“This is a game-changer for sports development in Ekiti, to do the impossible task of sourcing and committing top Ekiti politicians to chairing sports associations,” Olanlege remarked.

Among the achievements singled out by Olanlege is the establishment and robust support for grassroots football, particularly in the women’s game.

He pointed to the success of Ekiti Queens FC so far in the National Women’s Football League and the creation of a feeder team system as evidence of this commitment.

“The focus on women’s football is inspiring, and the results will speak for themselves,” he said.

In addition to grassroots efforts, Olanlege applauded the tangible improvements in sports infrastructure. He highlighted the purchase of a modern bus to ease transport of athletes around  the country, the ongoing renovation of sports facilities, and the specific work being done on the pitch at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium.

He also praised the approval and construction of an ultra-modern sports hall, which he described as a significant step toward elevating the state’s sporting profile. “These are not just promises; they are actions that benefit our athletes and communities,” he added.

Furthermore, while celebrating these accomplishments, Olanlege urged the administration to maintain the momentum.

“It has started well, but more work is needed to fully tap into the foundation that has been laid in the sports sector,” he emphasized.

He called for continued investment and innovation to ensure Ekiti State remains a pacesetter in sports development.

Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration has been widely acknowledged for its holistic approach to governance, and the sports sector appears to be a key beneficiary. With ongoing projects and a clear vision, Ekiti State is positioning itself as a hub for sporting excellence.
