In the build-up to this year’s World Environment Day, the Triple Green Environment Development Foundation is stepping up efforts to combat plastic pollution.
The foundation, also known as TGED, is focusing its campaign on young people, aiming to educate them on the proper use and disposal of plastics.
Leading the initiative is Ms. Oluwaseyi Ebenezer, alongside Programme Officer Adeyanju Olamilekan, with support from the Ado and Ikere Local Football Councils.
The team paid a series of courtesy visits to key stakeholders, including Dr. Olusola Osetoba, Technical Adviser on Sports Development to Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
Discussions centered on using sports—especially football—as a tool to drive home the message of environmental responsibility.
As part of activities to mark the day, a friendly match between Ado and Ikere local governments has been scheduled.

The team also met with the Ekiti State Football Association Chairman, Chief Olu Oloworemo, to seek collaboration for the event.
Ms. Ebenezer noted that beyond football, a range of other programmes will take place to raise awareness across the state.
She said the ultimate goal is to build a plastic-conscious society and inspire long-term environmental care among residents.
World Environment Day holds on June 5, and TGED says Ekiti will not be left behind in the global campaign to protect the planet.
