EKITI JOURNALISTS THRILL IN NOVELTY FOOTBALL MATCH AS FORMER LAWMAKER ENCOURAGES FITNESS CULTURE




It was a lively and thrilling evening on Thursday as members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, turned out in large numbers to participate in a novelty football match aimed at promoting fitness and unity among media professionals.

The entertaining encounter, which took place at the Ball and Ball Football Pitch in Adehun, Ado-Ekiti, featured Team Samo and Team Ojomoyela, with both sides putting up an impressive display that ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw, much to the excitement of spectators.

The ceremonial kickoff was performed by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bimbo Daramola, who applauded the NUJ leadership for initiating such a health-focused event and encouraged journalists to adopt regular exercise routines for both physical and mental wellbeing.

Hon. Daramola, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, noted that aside from the health benefits, the match would also help foster stronger bonds and camaraderie among journalists across various chapels in the state, stressing that good health remains key to professional productivity.

NUJ Sports Committee Chairman and captain of Team Samo, Mr. Demola Atobaba, expressed his appreciation to all participants, commending the union’s leadership for creating a supportive platform that encourages sports participation among journalists while promoting healthy living.
