The tournament, strongly supported by the Ekiti State Government, aligns seamlessly with Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s comprehensive vision for youth empowerment through sports.

She personally extended her heartfelt congratulations to both boys, pointing to them as inspiring examples of the extraordinary potential that can be achieved when Ekiti’s youth are provided with the right platforms to excel.

According to her "The journey of Olasunkanmi and Oladimeji, transitioning from local talents discovered in this very tournament to playing for one of Nigeria’s top youth academies and then conquering a renowned international youth football tournament like the Gothia Cup, serves as a powerful beacon of hope for aspiring footballers across the state, especially when provided with a platform to showcase their talents." Dr Osetoba enthused.

The 2025 edition of the Prof. Akin Oyebode Under-15 Football Tournament is eagerly anticipated, poised to uncover the next generation of football stars who are ready to make a significant mark both locally and on the global football stage.
