Outrage as Ikere Stadium pitch suffers damage after burial reception of Ekiti deputy governor’s mother

The Ikere Township Stadium, which recently hosted the grand reception of the burial ceremony of the late Madam Esther Adegboye, mother of the Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief Mrs Monisade Afuye, has come under scrutiny after noticeable damage to its football pitch was observed following the event.

The concern followed a video of over one minute in length, which was shared online earlier today, showing the current state of the playing field.

In the video, a drainage-like pattern was seen running across the length of the pitch, which has in the past hosted various local football competitions.

Some football enthusiasts have condemned the development, describing it as harmful to the community's sports infrastructure and the spirit of local football.

It will be recalled that the funeral reception was held on the pitch on Friday, June 27.
