Osetoba 10KM Marathon Holds in Emure

Excitement Builds In Emure As Osetoba 10KM Marathon Nears


Emure Local Government Area was thrown into excitement as athletes, sports enthusiasts, and stakeholders stormed the community in anticipation of the highly awaited Osetoba Marathon scheduled to hold tomorrow September 13, 2025.

The sporting event, which has been the subject of intense discussions among residents, is organized by Dr. Mrs. Olusola Osetoba, the Technical Advisor on Sports Development to Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State.

Organizers disclosed that the initiative is in direct alignment with the sports mandate of the present administration, particularly the focus on shared prosperity, grassroots development, and youth empowerment through physical and social engagement.

Health screening 

Earlier today, the organizing committee alongside the technical crew and officials of the Ekiti State Sports Council converged on the palace of the Elemure of Emure Ekiti, which has been designated as the official starting point of the marathon.

Over 80 athletes who expressed readiness to take part in the competition were formally screened, given essential briefings on the rules and regulations, and adequately acquainted with the expectations for tomorrow’s event.

The participants were also taken through the mapped race route which will cover strategic locations in the community including the palace as starting point, Alaago Roundabout, Ariyasi, Olojido, Odo Emure, St. Peter’s, Ofun Ogbo, Tin Toms, Ansarudeen Mosque, Four Junction, and eventually back to the palace.

According to the organizers, the marathon will cover a distance of 10 kilometers, making it a significant test of endurance, strength, and preparation for the athletes who have trained earnestly for the challenge.

With the level of excitement already building across the town, residents, stakeholders, and sports lovers are eagerly awaiting tomorrow, when the Osetoba Marathon will further place Emure on the map as a hub of youth-driven sporting activities in Ekiti State.
