Organisers Set for Ikogosi 17.5KM Marathon as Event Promises Excitement and Global Participation




All is set for the much-anticipated Ikogosi 17.5-kilometre Marathon scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, with organizers promising an exciting and world-class sporting experience for participants and spectators alike.

The race will flag off at the Ilawe Roundabout, close to the Alawe Palace, with runners navigating through several communities before reaching the iconic Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort in Ekiti West Local Government Area — a site renowned for its natural beauty and cultural significance.

According to the organizers, registration for the one-day event, which commenced weeks ago, remains open until November 1. Both local and international runners are expected to take part, competing for prize money exceeding ₦5 million across various categories. 

The marathon aims to blend sports, tourism, and culture, offering participants a chance to experience Ekiti’s scenic landscapes while showcasing endurance and athletic skill.

With the race route certified by recognized international bodies, preparations are ongoing to guarantee a smooth, safe, and colourful event. Registration is free for both professional and amateur athletes, who can sign up via the official website: www.ikogosimarathon.com.

The Ikogosi 17.5KM Marathon is being organised with the backing of the Ekiti State Government and the Office of the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Sports, Dr. Olusola Osetoba. 

The initiative reinforces Ekiti’s growing reputation as a leading destination for sports and tourism, while promoting fitness, unity, and economic growth within the state.
