Ismail Zainab Finishes Second as NWFL Matchday Six Top Performer Award Is Decided
Ismail Zainab of Ekiti Queens has once again demonstrated her growing influence in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), finishing second in the voting for the Matchday Six Top Performer Award.
The official results, released after the conclusion of fans’ voting across nine centres, placed Zainab just behind the winner in a highly competitive contest that attracted massive participation from supporters nationwide.
Zainab polled an impressive 1,170 votes, a strong showing that underlines her consistency and popularity among football fans. Her performance during Matchday Six stood out as one of the most impactful of the round and earned her widespread recognition.
In a message to her supporters, Zainab expressed deep appreciation to the fans who voted for her.
“I sincerely thank all my fans for their support and for believing in me. Your votes mean a lot to me, and I promise to keep giving my best for Ekiti Queens,” she said.
This result is particularly significant as it mirrors her previous achievement. Recall that in Match Week 5, Ismail Zainab also finished second with a total of 807 votes, confirming her status as one of the most consistent performers in the league this season.
The Matchday Six Top Performer Award was eventually claimed by Seember Emmanuel of Confluence Queens, who recorded the highest total of 1,226 votes. Emmanuel delivered a remarkable performance, scoring twice in a 3–0 away victory over Dannaz Ladies to secure the honour.
Other notable contenders included Oluwakemi Adegbuyi of FC Robo Queens, who finished third with 504 votes, Charity Isaiah of Delta Queens with 259 votes, and Atume Doosuur of Edo Queens, who recorded 77 votes.
As the NWFL Premiership continues, attention now shifts to upcoming fixtures, where expectations remain high. For Ismail Zainab, another second-place finish is not just a statistic but a strong statement of consistency, dedication, and growing fan support in Nigerian women’s football.
