Ekiti Queens Fc Will no Longer Play

NWFL Postpones League Fixtures as Ekiti Queens Shift Focus to February 18 Showdown with Rivers Angels

Ekiti Queens FC will have to wait longer to return to competitive action after the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) announced the postponement of the ongoing 2025/2026 Premiership season following the conclusion of Week 7 fixtures.

The decision, conveyed in an official circular dated January 20, 2026, and signed by Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi, explained that the break became necessary after complaints that some clubs have more than five players away on national U-20 team duty, making it difficult to field competitive squads.

According to the league body, the premiership will now resume with Week 8 matches on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, with only a one-week mid-season break scheduled as part of adjustments to the competition calendar.

For Ekiti Queens, attention has already shifted to their next fixture against Rivers Angels at the Abeokuta Stadium — their temporary home ground following their banishment from the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium — with the club urging supporters to stay patient and remain engaged through its social media platforms for updates and fan activities while they count down to the restart.
