Emure Youths Clean Major Streets in Historic Sanitation Exercise
The , led by its executive members under the leadership of Moyinoluwa Charles, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, carried out a street cleaning and environmental sanitation exercise across major parts of .
The exercise began at the Old Secretariat Junction, where participating youths converged early in the day to commence the clean-up. Working in turns, they swept and cleared refuse along key roads in a coordinated effort aimed at improving the cleanliness and outlook of the town.
From the Old Secretariat Junction, the sanitation team moved along the main road leading to the front of the Elemure Palace. The exercise continued through Four Junction and extended to Ogbontioro Market, covering some of the busiest and most strategic areas of the community.
The initiative drew positive reactions from residents, traders, and passersby who witnessed the exercise. Men and women of the community expressed happiness at the sight of youths taking responsibility for their environment, describing the effort as encouraging and long overdue.
Environmental health officers who monitored the exercise commended the youths for their commitment and urged them to sustain the initiative. Officials of the local government also expressed satisfaction, noting that it was the first time youths in Emure were actively involved in an organised environmental sanitation exercise of this nature.

Speaking at Ogbontioro Market, a community member, Mrs. Agboola, offered prayers for the youths and advised them to remain good ambassadors of Emure wherever they find themselves. She encouraged young people to always channel the needs of the community to relevant authorities in a peaceful and humble manner, rather than through confrontation. She also praised members of the Emure Youth Forum and the for initiating the programme.

Executives present at the exercise included Moyinoluwa Charles, President of the Emure Youth Forum; Ayobami Akintoye, Vice President; Adeyemi Ajayi, Publicity Secretary; Oluwafemi Babalola, Coordinator of the Nigeria Youth Congress; Timileyin Abegunde, Deputy Coordinator; and Samuel Seyi Ayodele, Assistant Secretary. Other officials were said to be unavoidably absent due to official engagements.
