Osetoba Blasts “Malicious Propaganda,” Vows to Defend Integrity, Professionalism in Ekiti Football

(Tosin Popoola)

The Technical Adviser on Sports Development to Governor , Dr Mrs Olusola Osetoba, has fiercely condemned what she described as a coordinated smear campaign by disgruntled elements bent on assassinating her character, declaring that no amount of propaganda will derail her commitment to professionalism, discipline and sportsmanship in Ekiti football.

The reaction follows the circulation of a selectively edited video clip from a Yoruba sports programme on anchored by Bernard Fagbemiro, in which she metaphorically stated that she could not allow anyone to defeat her in “her father’s house,” a remark now being mischievously twisted to falsely suggest she was inciting violence or promoting a reckless must-win-at-home mentality.

Addressing journalists in Ado Ekiti, Osetoba described the interpretation as dishonest, malicious and deliberately misleading, stressing that her statement was a figure of speech reflecting confidence in Ekiti United’s technical capacity, the backing of Governor Oyebanji and the passionate support of the club’s fans, not a call for hostility or unsporting behaviour.

She further reminded critics that during a separate appearance on anchored by Dayo Adegbite, she clearly and unequivocally cautioned supporters to abandon any destructive must-win-at-home mindset and embrace fair play, respect for opponents and the true spirit of the game.

Osetoba accused those amplifying the distorted clip of acting in bad faith and pursuing a narrow agenda aimed at dragging her name through the mud, warning that twisting words out of context to inflame public sentiment is not only irresponsible but a disservice to the development of football in the state.

Declaring that she will neither be intimidated nor distracted by what she termed desperate antics of political and sporting opportunists, Osetoba reaffirmed her resolve to continue supporting all Ekiti State-owned teams under her supervision while upholding integrity, accountability and a culture of excellence in line with the vision of the Oyebanji administration.
