Ekiti Queens Defeat Heartland Queens 2–0 as NWFL Second Round Begins

Ekiti Queens FC secured a convincing 2–0 victory over Heartland Queens FC in their Nigeria Women Football League Matchday 10 encounter at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, marking the start of the second round of the season.

The home side started the match with great intensity and controlled possession as they searched for an early breakthrough against their visitors from Owerri.

Their persistence paid off in the 32nd minute when Olanrenwaju Kaosarat Olamide found the back of the net to hand Ekiti Queens the deserved lead.

Ekiti Queens doubled their advantage shortly after the restart as Okoronkwo Amarachi scored in the 46th minute to put the hosts firmly in control of the contest.

Heartland Queens tried to mount a response in the remaining minutes but the Ekiti Queens defence stood firm to preserve their clean sheet.

The victory gives Ekiti Queens a strong start to the second round of the NWFL season as they continue their push for a higher position on the league table.

In the letter addressed to the Association and the general public, Omoyeni stated that his decision was taken to enable him pursue other life opportunities and further his professional career.
