EKITI QUEENS RETURN HOME For SOUTHWEST DERBY CLASH AGAINST PACESETTER
(TOSIN POPOOLA)
Ekiti Queens are set to play in front of their home fans for the first time this season after months of banishment to the MKO Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State since December 10, 2025.
The Coach Jacob Vandi-led side will host Pacesetter Queens of Ibadan in a Matchday 15 fixture of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.
The highly anticipated southwest derby is scheduled for 4pm at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, with expectations of a large turnout from supporters.
Ekiti Queens head into the encounter with confidence following a 2-0 victory in the first leg in Ibadan, where goals from Ismail Zainab and Winifred Eyebhoria sealed the win.
Excitement has continued to build among fans over the return of the “Baorèss Babes” to their home ground, although the Technical Advisor on Sports Development, Dr Mrs Olusola Osetoba, has warned supporters against hooliganism and violence.
Ekiti Queens, who have recorded two away wins this season, will be aiming to capitalize on home advantage to strengthen their position in the NWFL standings.
